Palestine

(9 November 1995 – 25 January 1996)

After the signing of the Washington Agreement between Israel and the Palestinians, on the 13th of September 1995, in the context of the Oslo Document, the peace process in the Middle East was initiated. Israel and Palestinians requested the E.U not only to send observers but also coordinate the whole mission.

In 1995, the E.U. contributed to the preparation and the monitoring of the electoral process and elections in Palestine according to the International Law.

In the context of this procedure, the EU established a European Electoral Team and a European Monitoring Mission in Palestine.

Greece contributed 4 cadres, from the 9th of November to 12th of December 1995 and 2 cadres from the 12th of December 1995 to the 25th of January 1996.
