Lieutenant General Konstantinos Zolotas is the Chief of Staff of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff (HNDGS). He was born in Patra. He joined the Hellenic Air Force Academy in 1985 and graduated in 1989, as a 2nd Lieutenant.

He has graduated from Water Survival School, Instructors School, ATPL/IR (Theoretical Knowledge), IT School, Air War College/Junior Officers, Supreme Joint War College and National Defence College.

He has more than 4000 flight hours and he has flown with T-41D, T-2E, T-37B/C, F/TF-104 and F-16 Block 30, 50, 52+, 52+Advanced aircraft.

From June 1989 to July 1991, he was trainee at 120 Air Training Wing and 116CW/Operational Conversion.

From July 1991 to January 1992, he served as Pilot at 116CW/335 Squadron, and subsequently, until October 1992, as trainee at 111CW/Operational Conversion.

From October 1992 to August 1997, he served as Pilot at 111CW/346 Squadron.

In June 1992, he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant, and in June 1996 to Captain.

In June 2001, he was promoted to Major, while from August 1997 to June 2003, he served as Pilot at 111CW/347 Squadron.

From June 2003 to August 2007, he successively held the position of Section Head at the Operations -Training Directorate at 111CW, Head of 111CW Standardization – Evaluation Office and Operations Officer of 111CW/347 Squadron.

In June 2007, he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, and from August 2007 to August 2009, he served as the Commander of 111CW/347 Squadron.

From August 2009 to July 2010, he attended the Hellenic National Defense College.

From July 2010 to July 2014, he was assigned as Staff Officer at the HAFGS Operations and Planning Directorate (A1/1).

In April 2013, he was promoted to Colonel, while from July 2014 to September 2016, he served as Director of Operations – Training Directorate at 115 Combat Wing (CW).

Subsequently, until March 2021, he was successively appointed as Section Head at the HAFGS Operations and Planning Directorate (A1/1), Deputy Commander and Commander of Air Tactics Center (ATC), and Section Head at the HAFGS Operations – Training Directorate (A3/2).

In March 2021, he was promoted to Brigadier General, and until March 2023, he served as Director of the HNDGS Armed Forces Transformation Directorate (D1).

In March 2023, he was promoted to Major General and appointed as Chief of Staff of the Hellenic Tactical Air Force.

In January 2024, he was assigned to the Hellenic National Defense General Staff as the Chief of Staff. In March 2024, he was promoted to Lieutenant General.

He is married.

He speaks English.

He holds all Greek Armed Forces decorations and Medals up to his rank.
