On Monday 13 May 2024, Chief of the HNDGS General Dimitrios Choupis, concluded his official visit to Saudi Arabia, upon the invitation of his counterpart, Chairman of the General Staff General Fayyad Bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili.
Following constructive meetings with the military leadership of the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces, the Chief of the HNDGS traveled to Yanbu, where the ‘Hellenic – Saudi Arabian Force’ is deployed. He visited the 120 Air Defense Battalion and met with the Commander of the Western Region of Saudi Arabia, Major General Ahmed Ali Al-Debais. Subsequently, he visited the Greek PATRIOT Missile System Battery as part of their participation in the international initiative ‘Integrated Air Missile Defense (IAMD) Concept’ to support the Kingdom’s air defense.
Addressing the personnel of the Battery, he commended them for their professionalism and dedication to the mission, expressing his satisfaction with the representation of the Greek flag.
During the visit, the Chief of the HNDGS also met with the Ambassador of Greece to Riyadh, Mr. Alexis Konstantopoulos, with whom he discussed international developments in the broader region, as well as the relationship between the two countries.
The entirety of the meetings and briefings in which the Chief of the HNDGS participated during his stay in Saudi Arabia are deemed particularly beneficial and expected to enhance the already close relations between the two countries at a military level.
