On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, a bilateral meeting was held between a delegation of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) and the U.S. Marine Forces Europe and Africa (MFEA) at “Papagos” camp, in Athens.
The head of the HNDGS delegation and representative of the Commander of the Hellenic Special Warfare Command (SWC) was the 1st Infantry Division (1st ID) Commander, Major General Dimitrios Drosos, while on behalf of the MFEA, the meeting was attended by its Commander, Major General Robert B. Sofge, who was accompanied by members of his staff and officials from the U.S. Embassy in Greece.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the framework and opportunities regarding joint training of the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) in Greece, aiming to further enhance the close cooperation between the Special Operations Forces of both countries in the near future.
