From Friday 22 to Friday 29 November 2024, the final phase of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps-Greece (NRDC-GR) exercise in the role of War Fighting Corps (WFC), named «GORDIAN KNOT 2024», took place in the area of Thessaloniki.
The purpose of the exercise, which involved personnel from NRDC-GR and other NATO allied structures, was to train the NRDC-GR General Staff as WFC. This was made possible through the planning and conduct of operations, while integrating forces and their capabilities, in the context of the implementation of Article 5 of the founding treaty concerning collective defence.
In addition, on Thursday 28 November 2024, the Distinguished Visitors Day (DV Day) took place at Camp PROKOPIDI in Assiros, where the guests had the opportunity to learn about the operation and mission of the Headquarters. The Distinguished Visitors Day was attended by:
- Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, as a representative of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis.
- The Commander of the Hellenic First Army/EU OHQ «ACHILLEAS» Lieutenant General Demokritos Konstantakos and the Commander of C΄ Army Corps/NRDC-GR Lieutenant General Athanasios Garinis.
- Commanders and delegations of NATO Force Structure Commands.
- Consuls and Defence Attaches of the participating States, members of the Greek Parliament, Honorary Commanders of the C΄ Army Corps/NRDC-GR.
The exercise contributed to increasing the interoperability and synergy among the participating personnel and advanced the level of operational readiness and cooperation within the allied framework.
