From Friday 23 to Wednesday 28 February 2024, a small-scale SOFEX occurred within the framework of the Allied exercise «DYNAMIC MANTA 24», in the vicinity of Sicily, in accordance with the planning by the NATO Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM).
Personnel and assets from the Special Warfare Command (SWC) of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), as well as from the Hellenic Navy General Staff, participated in the activity from the Greek side, while personnel and assets from the Italian Navy also took part.
During its course, the following subjects were conducted, among others:
● Personnel embarkation and debarkation procedures via submarine.
● Amphibious infiltration onto enemy shores.
● Special Reconnaissance (SR).
● Communication procedures with submarine and target information dissemination.
● Personnel recovery from submarine following the completion of a mission against a simulated coastal target.
This activity was part of the overall planning of HNDGS concerning international cooperation and contributed to enhancing the level of interoperability, of the participating forces.
