It is announced that the Chief/HNDGS, General Dimitrios Grapsas, will attend the EU MC Regular Session, at CHODs level, to be held in Brussels, on 15 November 2007.
Prior to the Session, a non official meeting between the EU CHODs and their counterpart of Ukraine, General Sergiy Kyrytchenko, will take place. General Kyrytchenko will refer to the transformation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Additionally, views will be exchanged on issues concerning the military cooperation of Ukraine with the EU.
The issues to be discussed during the Session, will concern, in general, the current operations and the effort for improvement of EU current operational capabilities.
Specifically, concerning EU-led operations, the developments in “ALTHEA” operation will be discussed, given its recent transformation, as well as the level of readiness of the EU to launch an operation in CHAD and Central African Republic.
Concerning the improvement of the EU operational capabilities, discussions will be held on the EU Battlegroups, the possibility for further improving the operational capabilities, as well as the way of reinforcing planning and conduct of EU military operations.
Finally, the issue of the European Constitutional Treaty will be discussed, mainly the possible consequences from its implementation on the EU Common Security and Defence Policy.
