It is announced that, the Chief of the Armed Forces of Slovenia, Lieutenant General Albin Gutman, will pay an official visit to Greece, from 06 to 08 June 2007, officially invited by the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, Admiral Panagiotis Chinofotis ΗΝ. It is noted that, for the first time a Chief of the Armed Forces of Slovenia pays an official visit to Greece.
The Chief of the Armed Forces of Slovenia, following a full honour ceremony at “PAPAGOU” military base, will have cooperation with the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, on issues of common military interest and the prospect of further developing military cooperation between the two countries, in the field of NATO and EU. Additionally, the Chief of the Armed Forces of Slovenia is also scheduled to visit the 2nd Army Aviation Regiment (2nd SYAS) in Megara.
Since 1999, Greece has signed with Slovenia an agreement for military cooperation and an agreement for the use of the NATO Missile Firing Installation (NAMFI) in Kreta, by the Slovenian Armed Forces. In 2001, Greece and Slovenia signed an agreement, for cadres of the Slovenian Armed Forces, to attend courses of the Hellenic Multinational Peace Support Operations Training Center.
The Chief of the Armed Forces of Slovenia, Lieutenant General Albin Gutman, will also have courtesy call with the Minister of National Defence, Mr Evangelos Meimarakis.
During his stay in our country, the Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff of Slovenia, will have guided tours at museums and archaeological sites.
