It is announced that today, 17 May 2007, the live crisis management exercise (LIVE CME) “EVROPI II/07” was successfully concluded, by the European Union HELlas – Bulgaria – ROmania – Cyprus Battle Group (EU HELBROC BG).

     This exercise was a continuation of the Command Post Exercise (CPX) “EVROPI I/07”, which took place from 07 to 12 May 2007, at the Hellenic Operational Headquarters, in the city of Larisa.

     Both exercises took place in the framework of evaluation of the Hellenic Operational Headquarters (OHQ), the Force Headquarters (FHQ) and HELBROC BG on their capability to conduct EU-led Crisis Management Operations and specifically humanitarian assistance and evacuation operations, including Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations (NEO).  

     The Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, Admiral Panagiotis Chinofotis HN, the Chief of General Staff of the Bulgarian Armed Forces, General Zlatan Kirilov Stoykov, the Chief of the Romanian General Staff, Admiral Gheorghe Marin and the Chief of National Guard of Cyprus Lieutenant General Constantinos Bisbikas attended the final phase of the exercise. The exercise was also attended by the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Dimitrios Grapsas, the Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff, Lieutenant General Ioannis Giagkos, Hellenic First Army Commander, Lieutenant General Pavlos Giagkoulis, B’ Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Fragos Fragoulis and the Deputy Commander in Chief of the Hellenic Fleet, Vice Admiral Ioannis Karaiskos HN.
