It is announced that the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, Admiral Panagiotis Chinofotis HN will participate in the Regular Session of EU’s Military Committee, at Chiefs of Defence level, to be held on the 11th of May 2007, in Brussels.
The issues to be discussed, in general, will include the current situation and lessons learnt from the on going EU-led Operations in Bosnia – Herzegovina (Operation ALTHEA), in the Republic of Congo, Darfour and the Balkans. Views will be exchanged on military EU capabilities development, in relation to the activities of the European Defence Agency (EDA) and the European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP) .
Discussions will also include issues on improving the operational capabilities of the EU Battle Groups, as well as ways of upgrading EU capabilities on planning and execution of military operations.
Additionally, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff will inform his counterparts of the outcome of the 1st Balkan CHODs Conference, held from 17 to 19 April 2007, at Thessaloniki.
