It is announced that the Chief HNDGS General Dimitrios Grapsas and the Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Ioannis Karaiskos will visit the Frigate PSARA in Oman from 14 to 16 March 2009.
Purpose of the visit is that the HNDGS Chief be briefed on the ongoing EU Operation “ATLANTA” (EUNAVFOR) with Tactical Command Staff being on board the “Frigate PSARA”, under the Command of Commodore Antonios Papaioannou.
On Sunday 15 March a liturgy will be held onboard the ship followed by a short address to the crew by the Chief HNDGS.
The mission of Operation “ATLANTA” is to prevent piracy and to insure the sea lines of communication in the region. The Frigate “PSARA” is expected to conclude its mission on 7 April 2009.
