From 17 to 21 October 2016 the multinational Special Ops Forces exercise “BALKAN SHIELD 2016” was held in the frame of the Balkan Countries’ CHODs Conference on Military Cooperation.

The purpose of the “Balkan Nine Countries Combined Joint Special Operations Forces Exercises”, established in 2011 within the framework of the Balkan Countries’ CHODs Conference, is to enhance the cooperation and the coordination among the member-states SOF in dealing with potential crisis.

The exercise “BALKAN SHIELD 2016” was planned under the coordination of the HNDGS and conducted at Litohoro Exercises Field. SO Units from Greece, Serbia, Romania, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria and Albania participated.

On Friday 21 October 2016, during the DV-Day, the “BALKAN SHIELD 2016” final phase took place at Litohoro Exercises Field, with the presence of Hellenic Armed Forces personnel, Defence Attaches and local authorities representatives.
