In the context of Open Skies Treaty, an observation flight was conducted over Greece from 14 to 18 November 2016 by a Russian Federation inspection team.
Open Skies treaty was signed in Helsinki, in 1992, during OSCE meeting. The treaty entered into force on January 1, 2002, as a tool of building confidence measures, aiming at the promotion of transparency of military activities (transatlantic), ranging from Vancouver to Vladivostok, through aerial surveillance.
