The International Crisis Management Conference "ATHENA '21" constitutes an international forum for constructive discussions and exchange of views on issues pertaining to crisis management. The Conference has gained prominence as one of the most significant institutions where high-ranking civilian and military personnel participates representing States, International Organizations, such as NATO, UN, EU, International Relations and Strategic Studies Institutes as well as interested parties from pertinent bodies (Ministries, General Staffs, Organizations, Universities, etc.).
The aim of the Conference is the analysis of contemporary threats and challenges against international security, focused on the wider geopolitical environment of the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as on the presentation of holistic approach strategies to counter them. Furthermore the Conference examines the capacity for a closer cooperation by the international community, with the objective to prevent conflict and effectively manage crises.
The International Crisis Management Conference "ATHENA '21" is hosted by the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, under the aegis of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence.
The Conference will take place on 7 and 8 December 2021 in Athens and particularly at the amphitheatre of the Hellenic Air Force Academy (HAFA), at Dekelia Air Base.
The main Conference events will cover the first two days, whereas a cultural event will take place on the last day of the Conference, on 9 December 2021 (only for official Guests and their Spouses and Partners). In addition and during the Conference at 7 - 8 December 2021, a series of events is planned (guided tours, walks in the center of the city and in shops, visits to museums) for the Spouses and Partners of the official Guests.
