The Security and Crisis Management International Conference “ATHENA” has been established as one of the most important events gathering experts on crisis management issues at a political and military level.
The Conference is organized by the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) under the aegis of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence (HMOD) with the participation of civil, academic and military personnel coming from more than 40 countries and international organizations. Especially this year it will be held within the framework of the Hellenic Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The aim of the Conference is not, exclusively, to evaluate the current developments in the area of crisis prevention and management. It supports mainly the exchange of views and the promotion of initiatives between the academic community and the representatives of relevant national and international organizations, in order to address, with the most effective way, the emerging tensions, conflicts and threats which are generated by the instable geopolitical environment.
The Conference programme has a three-day duration and includes among others the participation in cultural-social events, which take place in the margins of the conference work.
