On Wednesday, April 9 2025, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) General Dimitrios Houpis, paid an official visit to France at the invitation of his counterpart, Chief of the French Defence Staff General Thierry Burkhard.
During his visit, the Chief of the HNDGS met with the Metropolitan of France Mr. Dimitrios Ploumis, with whom he had the opportunity to discuss issues of mutual interest, as well as the initiatives undertaken by the Metropolis in support of the Greek Orthodox community in France. He then visited the Embassy of Greece in France, where he was welcomed by the Ambassador of Greece, Mr. Antonios Alexandridis, with whom he discussed the relations between the two countries.
The official welcoming ceremony for the Chief of the HNDGS took place at the French Armed Forces Headquarters, hosted by his counterpart. Following the official reception, the two Chiefs had a meeting where they discussed issues of common interest. Emphasis was given on the increasing military cooperation between Greece and France, the security and stability in Europe and the current geopolitical situation.
