From 11 to 23 Nov 2013 the annual EU exercise “MILEX-13 is taking place, organised by the European External Action Service (EEAS).


Following  a  unanimous  decision  reached by  the EU  Military Committee, our country assumed the Command of the EU Operational HQs throughout the exercise and Major General Alkiviadis Stefanis was appointed as Operational Commander.


The said exercise, conducted without the development of troops, with the participation of member states and  International  Organisations from their HQs, focuses  on  the parallel actions of the Operational HQs based in Brussels, the EU Military Staff Operational Centre and the Tactical  HQs deployed in Mont-Valerien, France.


The  exercise scenario  entails  crisis  management in a fictitious part of the world and  in-cludes the deployment of a Battlegroup, following a UN Security Council mandate, aiming to ensure a safe and stable environment.


On Wednesday 20 Nov 2013, Day of Distinguished Visitors, the exercise was attended by the Chairman of  the  EU Military Committee, Lt. General  (AF) Patrick de Rousiers  from France, the Director General of the EU Military Staff Lt General Wolfgang WOLOSOBLE  from   Austria,  the  Military  Representative  of  Greece  to  the  EUMC  Lt. General  G. Basiakoulis, Military Representatives of EU Member-States, the Operational Commander of the Operational HQs  Major General Alikiviadis Stefanis  who briefed  all attendees  on the  exercise  underway, the Commander  of  the  French Forces Hqs,  Brigadier General Daniel GRAMMATICO and the Heads of Sections and Departments of the EU, as  well as the European External Action Service.
