The Hellenic National Defence College (HNDC) conducted an international seminar entitled “Managing Complex Regional Security Issues: The Case of the Eastern Mediterranean Region”, at the premises of the Yacht Club of Greece, Piraeus, on Friday 11 December 2015. The seminar was held within the framework of existing cooperation between HNDC and the University of Plymouth.
The presentations of the lectures covered the following topics:
- Responding to the Arc of Instability in the Mediterranean Littoral
- Putin’s Strategy in Syria
- Energy, Economics and Security in Eastern Mediterranean: Challenges and Opportunities
- Regional Geopolitics and Alignments: Towards a new geopolitical equilibrium in Eastern Mediterranean?
The HNDGS Deputy Chief, Lieutenant General George Paraschopoulos, on behalf of the HNDGS Chief, Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis HN, made the conference’s inaugural presentation. The conference was attended by diplomatic, military authorities and business community’s representatives, as well as students of the HNDC 68th and 1st International Department Educational Series and delegations from the General Staffs, Military Academies, the MFA Diplomatic Academy and the Hellenic Police National Security Academy.
